Good Morning,

I wanted to post quickly this AM regarding two things that are coming up.  One is a school wide event and the other is a very popular question being asked these days.

Starting with the school carnival, our school will be having a carnival next Friday, March 23 from 5:30-8:30.  Preschool parents are being to cover the food.  Each shift is 1.5 hours.  Even if you cannot work the entire time, we would love to have your help.  Each teacher needs two volunteers for each shift.  The first shift is from 5:30-7:00 and the second shift is from 7:00-8:30.  Please let me know if you are interested.  For the silent auction, we are donating dog supplies for our preschool basket.  Anything dog related will help.  We need to have all items by this Friday.  They will itemize the basket and wrap it before the carnival.  If you are finding it difficult to help with the above, I would still love to see you at the carnival.  We are raising money for a new playground.

The McNight raised over $650.00 towards the new equipment.

Next is the question of the month:   Is my child receiving speech?  Why am I not getting weekly notes like with Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy?  Speech (Loraine and Sarah alternate) is in here every Monday.  Weeks without Mondays off, they have been in other days to fit us in.  As of now, they have 120+ kids on their case load, so writing notes is just not possible.  They apologize all the time, but we decided that spending their time with the students in therapy is more important than writing notes.  We wish it could be both, but time just will not allow.  Please feel free to email me at akiger@brownsburg.k12.in.us or Sarah at sreaves@brownsburg.k12.in.us.

Have a great week,
Amy

It is hard to believe that we are getting close to our last 3 months of this school year.  How time is flying!!

We continue to work on expressive and receptive language, fine motor, and gross motor skills.  We are seeing so much improvement.

This month we will be doing a theme on Farm, Shamrocks, and Eggs.  There will be lots of fun to come.

We will also be having a Cardinal Carnival on the 23rd of March.  Our basket will be focused on Dog Daze.  Anything dog/pet related that is sent in will be in a basket to be auctioned at the Carnival.

McDonald's night was a HUGE success.  It was fun, and I enjoyed seeing familiar faces.

Thank you for supporting your children's education!!

SNOW AT LAST!!

It has really not felt too much like an Indiana Winter.  When the groundhog saw his shadow, we worried that the 6 more weeks of winter would make up for the first part of winter.  HUUMMMM!!  We will just have to see.

We have a lot of school wide activities going on.  So I wanted to take some time to post those.

February 17 from 6-8 Sock Hop/Scholastic Book Fair.  There will be a DJ and dinner and dessert are available for $5 per person.  This is a PSG sponsored event.

February 23 from 5-8 McNight at McDonald's on E. Main (in front of Marsh).  Cardinal PSG will receive 20% of all sales that evening.  I plan to be there to help from 5-6.  This is also a PSG sponsored event.

Our Cardinal PSG is very active.  This year each teacher has $200 to buy supplies, etc for their classroom.  They also bought up two new trikes, so we have enough for 5-6 children to ride at a time.  Any fundraiser for the PSG is a great way to support your children and their education.

February 6-10 Heart and sole event put on as a service project for Mrs. McMullen's HA class.  They are collecting used unwanted shoes.  Heals must be less than 2.5 inches, no heelies, or cleats.  The class with the most donations will receive $500 in free books.  Please send in your unwanted shoes.

As for class,  Mrs. Rolfson has been out for a few days.  We have been able to have the same subs, so it has worked well for the children.  She should return next Monday.  I will be glad to have her back.  Mrs. Laura Thompson has been her in the AM class to help me by supporting the children.

We celebrated Groundhog's Day, Hearts, and will be having a Valentine exchange next Tuesday.  Next week, we will start The Mitten story by Jan Brett.  It should prove to be a great learning experience.

Our therapists have been so busy with the children that notes have been an afterthought.  If you have questions or concerns please let me know.

If you have not had a case review, I will be contacting you prior to Spring Break to schedule a time.

Hope you are keeping warm!  Thank you for sharing your little ones with me.

Greetings!

We have been working hard on matching colors, writing the first letter of our name (or more), increasing our independence with toileting, and handling our backpacks and coats.  Overall we had a great time with snowmen.  Now we are working on transportation.

Today we cut and painted airplanes with Ms. Stephanie.  We have had snowball fights lying on our stomachs and while standing on our knees with Ms. Lenore.  Ms. Sarah and Ms. Lorraine have been coming in on various days to make up for the Mondays we have been off.  They are working on expressive language, matching, and giving functions of objects.

I am very proud of the little ones.  I am appreciative of all the parent support.

Please send in any box tops as the contest ends Monday.

Have a safe and warm weekend!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

WoW!! I am so pleased with the progress that the children made over break.  We know more colors, shapes, starting to tell stories, and we even remembered how to sit and listen.  (Well, at least most of us:)

We have been working on hibernating bears, snowman, and snowflakes. Please remember to return your families snowflake completing the phrase "My family is unique because..."  We would also appreciate if you could send the progress envelopes back to use next time.

While I am sending reminders and talking about snow, the 2 hour delay schedule for preschool follows:
AM 11:00 – 12:45 and PM 1:45 – 3:30

We have been working hard on all aspects including handwriting, literacy, and math.  We are busy learning, but still making time for crafts that practice our skills.  We have most of those here to cover the white walls.  We will send them home in a few weeks or as we rotate them out.

The next two weeks we will be adding in transportation as a theme.  Ms. Lenore (PT) will be visiting us on Mondays for the remainder of the year.

Keep warm and have a great long weekend!!
